Our Legacy
Mozambique Holdings was established by Jose Parayanken in Mozambique in 1991. Since then, he helmed the organization as its chairman and managing director and helped it grow into what it is today — one of the largest Indian-owned business houses in Mozambique with a turnover of over USD100mn in 2020. With a workforce of over 1000 and over 200 expatriates, the organization runs a diverse range of industrial ventures, such as:
Transport and automobile division
Production and distribution of military and police uniforms
Pharmaceutical manufacturing and national distribution
Groundwater development and irrigation systems
Toll road construction and maintenance
Mining, including prospecting and exploration of mining concessions in coal, phosphates, and gold

1994
- Mozambique Holdings commenced activites as Mozambican distributor of Mahindra
1996
- Mobike created under MHL Group for motorbike distribution and retail
1997
- Faumil founded for garment manufacturing in Mozambique
- MHL Acquires Anfrena SARL
2002
- Inupol created for garments manufacturing in Matola
- Afrodrill created for rural water development operations
2007
- Afrodrill successfully completed the first rural drinking water development project backed by the Indian government
2011
- Anfrena Engineering completed upgradation and refurbishment of Matola Fuel Terminal for CFM
- Afrodrill successfully completed second phase of the rural drinking water development project supported by the Indian government
2012
- Pequenos Libombos Energia founded; commences operations for generating electricity in October 2012
- Anfrena Engineering successfully completed construction of bulk fuel storage infrastructure for Vale in Tete
- MHL acquires a 40% stake in Petrogas SA from Petromoc
2013
- Agro Industrial e Cha de Tacuane commences operations for developing a rubber estate in Zambezia
2014
- Anfrena Engineering successfully constructed 3,000 metric ton bulk LPG storage terminal in Matola
2016
- Mahindra Business consolidated under MHL Auto SA
2017
- Strides Pharma Mozambique created to manufacture pharmaceuticals in Mozambique
- Afrodrill successfully completes the third phase of the Rural Drinking Water Development project supported by the Government of India
2018
- MHL Auto became the largest distributor of new vehicles in Mozambique
- Anfrena Engineering successfully constructed 3,000 metric ton bulk LPG storage terminal in Beira with a truck terminal and cyliner filling plant
2019
- Strides Pharma Mozambique successfully manufactured 1bn oral solid doses in Mozambique
2021
- MHL Auto’s annual sales volume surpassed 1000 vehicles for the first time
- Agro Industrial successfully tapped rubber trees for natural latex for the first time
